Sleep apnoea

Well fingers crossed. I've just had to have the test to rule out (or confirm) sleep apnoea, where you have to have two bands across the chest, one on the finger, and the one under the nose. Still awaiting the results as it's part of a few ongoing tests to why I don't sleep so well.

But any news like that is welcoming for sure.

That would be great news if the fix wasnt so invasive & costly. I can only see this being for people who are private paitents or have a good insurance policy that would cover op's like this. People like my wife will continue to be offered very little help.

I agree with that - since I had my CPAP device I've had very little support from the hospital.

I think that the thing to hold on to is the fact that an alternative method of managing this condition has been found and that further development of this method is now bound to follow.

For example. When the implants for hearing loss were first trialled they took a lot longer to implant and the external hardware was a bit like a house brick. In a matter of a couple of decades the implant operation time has been reduced and the external attachment is no larger than a normal behind the ear hearing aid. The latest implants, still under trial don't even have an external aid.

Here's hoping that this implant has the same success, though I do hope the development time is appreciably shorter.
