diesel additives ,do they work ?

hi , any petrol heads had any experience using additives in diesel to clean the injectors ,do they work? or are they a waste of money
i have a 2002 transit van on 120,000 miles works fine and is serviced regular since i bought it 2 yrs ago so any advice appreciated

the reason i ask is my work partners sprinter is going to cost him £900 for new injectors his van is the same age but a cdi engine

I would ask your local MOT station, these guys usually have a favourite product they swear by.

Change the glow plugs first and get the injectors reconditioned rather than buying new ones.

Re: diesel additives ,do they work ?

They do help, well IMO they do.
As long as you get filters & oil changed per manufacturers instructions & use an additive at least every 2 fill ups (one per 50 ltrs) it can make a difference. My mpg has gone up by about 4mpg over the last 3 months, smokes less and runs smoother for a 12yr old oil burner I'm happy.

Forte is trade only. either Ebay or a garage that has some to sell to you.

I don't own diesels. it's what a lot of people rave on about in a couple of motor forums I'm in.

I've used the Forte products in a petrol. they're really good.

I know but if the glow plugs are working well then the fuel starts to burn more efficiently on start up, IE, the engine will start better..
And i agree, Forte diesel injector additive does work really well. But for the mileage of the vehicle i`d suggest getting recon injectors rather than new ones from Ford.

Hello mate, when you put the fuel treatment in, pour 1/2 into the fuel filter and the other half into the tank. Gives the injectors a bit of a thorough clean.

might be worth a go my engine works fine but on 120,000miles it may need a bit of extra tlc

Re: diesel additives ,do they work ?

Just added a full bottle of Millers, (does treat 10 tank fulls normally) My last mileage was 642 from 57 litres. I'll post back in another 3 weeks or so to say if I have noticed a difference.
