The modern English term Easter is speculated to have developed from Old English word Ēastre or Ēostre or Eoaster, which itself developed prior to 899. The name refers to Eostur-monath, a month of the Germanic calendar attested by Bede as named after the goddess Ēostre of Anglo-Saxon paganism.[15] Bede notes that Eostur-monath was the equivalent to the month of April and that feasts held in her honor during Ēostur-monath had died out by the time of his writing, replaced with the Christian custom of Easter.[

Re: Happy Easter
Even more commercialisation.
Easter is fast becoming the same as everything else. Once upon a time when I was a lad it was off to church for mass, home for a couple of hot cross buns, a nice dinner and then a couple of Easter eggs. Now it’s just another day that the supermarkets push non Christian gifts upon us. Walking round Tesco yesterday they had in the electrical dept a big sign up saying, “THE IDEAL EASTER GIFT” and there on the display were Easter camera’s, Easter laptops, Easter MP3 players. Has the Pope blessed all electrical goods?
I’m sure when Christ rose on the third day it wasn’t to pop into his local supermarket to buy his disciples electrical goods.
Anywho! However you choose to celebrate Easter, have a good one.
