Any Pool Players in the House?

Evening All

Anybody here on CF a Pool player, or know a Pool player?

I used to be in one of the local leagues, but fell out of it due to a number of reasons. Now I'm looking to get back into playing again, but it's struck me that something I've never given much thought to is my choice of cue.

The last one I had was a two-piece snooker cue that I bought because it looked nice (). This time I'd like to buy something that's more appropriate to the game.

Anybody currently using a cue that they'd recommend, or know of any good makes/models to look at? Don't want to spend a fortune, but want to buy something that's going to be up to the job

Re: Any Pool Players in the House?

Good piece of advice that I read in A Stephen Hendry snooker book was that it doesn't matter if a cue costs £2 or £200, it how well it suits you, weight, balance, etc.

He also made the point that this applies to snooker, pool or billiards.

I used to play a lot against a group of friends in the local pub, l could only play well with one of the "house" cues, where a friend classed my cue as useless because he could play better with one of the "house" cues that I could never get on with.

BTW still go my cue, it cost £14 and is a 2 piece "Budweiser"(as in the beer).

To be honest its hard to say which pool/snooker cue you should get, you should get one that feels right.

Its like darts, they have different weights and materials.

Try several sports shops and handle the cue's (don't go by price)

Re: Any Pool Players in the House?

Forget about a snooker cue, the tip is a lot smaller/narrower than a proper pool cue.. As for length and weight best thing to do is to try a few.. A good snooker/pool shop should have a few to try, or a good pool hall should also sell a selection..

Also get membership to Rileys, they have halls up and down the country and the membership card allows you reduced rates and access to all of thier halls which have both pool and snooker tables. Used to be a member when I played 9 ball a lot

Re: Any Pool Players in the House?

I have a 19oz Cue Craft 2 piece cue, the balance and feel is right for me, but may not be for you.
