Washing Colour Clothes
I was wondering, since i spent a lot of money on clothes lately what is the best way to wash colour clothes?
I've been washing my colours at 30c on the synthetics cycle with non-bio washing power, but which is the best recommended? Bio, Non Bio or the special for colours powder?
I also don't mind if it wont clean whites well as i have Vanish to add if needed.
I also read that fabric softner is really bad for clothes

Re: Washing Colour Clothes
Sounds more like a lifestyle thread Zee.
Thankfully I don't have expensive, fashionable clothes. Rugger shirts, jeans etc, and all get washed at 30 deg C non-colourfast cottons.

Re: Washing Colour Clothes
I just pressed the 'coloured' option on my washer with a Bold liquitab thrown in. Get a man friendly appliance

Re: Washing Colour Clothes
Depends on powder, but my first rule is hotter is bad for colours (in case they aren't colour fast).
Your powder should say operational temp, ie bio powder i think normally works best at 30-40 etc.
But best way, is to hand wash. Personally I do nothing but separate darks from whites (light colours), turn machine onto setting 2 or 3, and wash wash

Re: Washing Colour Clothes
Would also suggest using specifically for colour washing liquid as powder can leave white marks. There are brighteners in the regular bio and non bio which cause colours to fade.

Re: Washing Colour Clothes
The best way to wash your clothes is to get your missus to do them... Failing that, mum knows best.

Re: Washing Colour Clothes
White marks on clothes after washing means you stuffed too much in the machine and it couldn't do the whole rinsey thing properly. I'm really awake and technical this morning honest.
As for colours, I'm also just a seperate light and darks and bung them in. Wash all clothes with fairy non bio (got a lil 'un) at 40, bedding and towels get washed at 60.

Re: Washing Colour Clothes
Definitely separate whites/pales and coloureds. Seen too many pink shirts from careless mixing.
Anything with cotton content will come out much more creased from a 60 wash. 40 is definitely better as much of that can be tumble dried and worn without ironing.

Re: Washing Colour Clothes
Always wash coloured clothes inside out
I usually do everything apart from towels at 40 degrees, towels at 60. Most machines come with 'man friendly' options now but generally 40 degrees is ok and wash new clothes separately the first time to save them running into one another.

Re: Washing Colour Clothes
Well i've been OK i think for a man. I used them sheets to stop colours from bleeding into eachother, been washing the colours at 30c but the thing is i wanted them looking like new for as long as possible. i'll go out and buy the washing powder for colours later on.
thanks

Re: Washing Colour Clothes
Cooler washes are definitely better. You will find man made fabrics/mixed will hold their colour better too.
