Does anyone know how to retrieve numbers from a dead mobile phone?
After a bad week, when I should have been off work (but I'm self-employed, so you keep pushing youself, don't you), I have retrieved my mobile phone from the airing cupboard, where it has spent 2 days, having been washed at 40 degrees, then spun dry at 1400 rpm, in my jeans pocket.
Unsurprisingly, the phone won't work, but the sim seems to work (in an old phone dug out from a drawer). However, my stored numbers aren't on the SIM which is very disappointing.
Does anyone know any way I check the phone's memory (there is a mini USB connection on the phone) to get my numbers back?
And yes, I KNOW I should have backed it up, but this is the first incident of this kind I've ever had in 20-odd years of mobile ownership, and I've been ill, so please be kind.
BTW the phone is a Nokia 3110c if that helps.

I expect unless you can power the phone up and it actually works that the is no way to retrieve numbers from the internal memory.
A specialist firm may offer to help but you are talking silly money and it may not work.
Always ensure in the future that you save your numbers to the sim card, to late in this case.

if it does not turn on then there will be nothing you can do. There may be specialists than could do it but I imagine it would cost a small fortune. From now on save contacts to sim lol
lol beat me almost word for word dude lol

I assume saving numbers to SIM is an option setting somewhere? I've never thought about it, always just saved. To me a phone is just a phone, and I'm afraid I don't spend hours pouring over the user manual.
I'm due a new one as my contract is up for renewal anyway (and kept the same one for 3 years previously, electing to get cashback instead), so no disaster there, but there are a few numbers I think I haven't stored anywhere else. I'll only discover which ones over the coming few weeks, I expect.
Must ring vodaphone now and get one ordered.

A nokia 6303. Not really important, I only use it for calls and the occasional text anyway

I always save to Sim so that I can easily pop it out and still have all my numbers on it.

Your alias is clumsymum so do you have children who have mobiles if so when you get your new phone get them to demonstrate how to save to your simcard memory rather than the phone memory.

Why don`t you get a copy of your statement and get the numbers that way? At least you`ll have a hard copy of the numbers you use most.

Now that is a good point, check your old bills for them.

Put it on the radiator for 2 hours, leave it to cool off until the next day and try it again with the power cord plugged in.

Won't that kill the screen which might already be black from the dryer.

Dismantle the phone as much as possible and stick it in a bowl of dry rice for a day or so. Might revive it long enough to get the numbers off.

Beat me to it, that is what I was going to advise.
Clumsymum, that seems to be the best solution.
