ebay question
hello Pia (ebay queen)
I have done a search and was loath to hijack another thread..so.... I am fairly new at ebay and put a bid in for something. It got outbid. so I upped the bid, outbid again, same bidder.
When I checked him out he has put bids in to 7 different items from the same seller. That got me thinking he may be the seller under a different name?.
End of auction I get a "second chance offer" because the "winner" has changed his mind
question is, is it worth reporting him/her for shill bidding or just ignore it. I wont be taking him up on the offer anyway.

Re: ebay question
I would report it to be honest as its inflating the price of an item....and to have 1 person do this on said person account 7 times sounds pretty dodgy to me.

Re: ebay question
I'd agree with DocDutch and report it. If it turns out to be nothing then no-ones hurt. If it turns out to be dodgy then atleast you've helped remove or at least bought to the attention of Ebay another waste of space.
Tbh I wouldn't expect to much though. Ebay's a bit of a joke these days.

Re: ebay question
does it cost more when you are selling to put a reserve price? otherwise would he have had to sell it to me for 99p? which is where we started fom. it ended up at £15

You can only put a reserve above £50 and only on certain categories.
He paid less by starting it low and the hope is to get some interest. I've sold a pair of shoes for 99p before and recently bought a 'rare' toy for 1.04 with free postage (second bid) - it cost her more than that in postage.

Re: ebay question
item got put on auction again this time sold for £8 but had put his postage up from £2.99 to £5.99. It looked like the same "winner" as before got it.
anyway I got what I wanted from someone else and reported the seller

I had a very similar experience a few months ago, and reported it to eBay. All the sellers items had disappeared the next day.
A bit off topic, but it is surprising the number of times sellers include inaccurate information in their listings. For example, I'm after a piece of electronic equipment with a USB port (which is usually an optional extra). Including "USB" in the search should include only the ones I want. Unless the seller hasn't been completely truthful.
