In praise of paint pads...
Well the sun's finally been out and I couldn't resist the temptation to get decorating so I got the trusty fillable roller out and set to emulsioning our bedroom ceiling. It's a great product and much more efficient than a standard roller but there's still the problem of dripping and getting into corners and tight spaces. Then I recalled I'd bought a set of paint pads some time ago and they'd been stuck in the garage ever since. What the hell, I thought I'd give them a try. I diluted the paint with a little water and off I went. What a revelation! So quick, clean and easy to use! No drips, no fuss, no mess and a very smooth finish to boot. In the end I wound up doing the entire room, bathroom and all our non-glazed interior doors. If you haven't tried paint pads give them a go - they're cheap, clean, easy to use and give a very good finish with virtually no effort. Highly recommended!

Re: In praise of paint pads...
I find them very good cheating at cutting in work, very lightly load them with paint, make sure none goes up the sides of the pad and your sorted.

Re: In praise of paint pads...
For a minute I read 'paint pods' which i would like to recommend. Coverage is good and the clean up even better, just press a button
Note to self, read threads properly (possibly best when i'm not post-anaphylactic shock with swelling around eyes) and to buy some paint PADS

Re: In praise of paint pads...
They are great for glossing doors. Really quick and no runs.

I've never tried them with gloss paint. I thought it would be more difficult to apply than with a brush. I must try that because I usually manage to mess up gloss - especially on doors.

Re: In praise of paint pads...
Tried them, hated them ... I always end up with paint bleeding out the sides, which makes them useless for cutting in as you end up with a coloured line along the ceiling as soon as you try to put the pad in to the corner.
I've just done a room, a landing and a stairwell with my trusty roller. No faffing about worrying about how much paint is on it. And you can't beat a steady hand and a decent-quality brush for cutting in.

Re: In praise of paint pads...
Well if you get paintpads in your sarny tin you must have done something awful to her indoors to have warranted the punishment.
... and I'll have you know that White bread is very useful when you are decorating. It can be rubbed over dirty areas to lift any marks that could bleed into your fresh emulsion coat. ...So there!

Waste not want not. As long as I put the dirty side in the middle no one would ever guess.

Once you've got the smell of freshly painted house in your nostrils you're not going to notice the slight taste of slightly dirty emulsion in your sarnie.
