Sticky Car Steering Wheel
Just bought a second-hand car and the steering wheel feels quite sticky.
I suspect it's an accumulation of dirt/grime.
Any thoughts on the best way to clean it, or what to use to clean it? I tried normal cockpit wipes and they didn't help. Leather wipes seem to have helped marginally but not a massive amount.

Would that leave a sticky residue of its own?

Re: Sticky Car Steering Wheel
Good old fashioned washing up liquid and a nail brush should soon sort it out Rob.

No, sugar soap it first and then wipe with a damp cloth.
Could also use CIF(JIF).

Re: Sticky Car Steering Wheel
I think it's leather, but it could just be a really good imitation man-made affair.

Re: Sticky Car Steering Wheel
Sounds like the previous owner was a heavy smoker. My friends Dads car also has a sticky steering wheel and he is a heavy pipe smoker.

Re: Sticky Car Steering Wheel
Could be, the car doesn't smell of smoke though - I think they were just a bit of a minger to be honest

Must be an exciting car to drive!
Soap and water should do the trick.

Alternatively, the car may have seen lots of 'action'
