Do you have a faith?
Not intending to open up a can of worms here, Do people on this forum have a faith they believe in?.
I, Personally, have always been brought up to believe in god, Christianity and the 10 commandments.
Do other people still believe? and if not what faith or religion do you follow. Maybe you had a faith and lost it. Could you explain why please.
Thank you.
Just wondering.

Re: Do you have a faith?
I have no faith, and sometimes I find myself wishing that I did - allow me to explain
I find it extremely difficult (for reasons that I've explained previously) to believe that there is a God, or that if there is a God he is worth me believing in/worshipping - for that reason I have no faith at all that I can lay claim to.
Often though I see/meet others who do have faith, and I often find myself wishing that I was in their position - when they are experiencing troubles they have their faith to turn to, when they find themselves alone they have their God (or Gods), when there doesn't appear to be any reason to what's going wrong with their life, they can look to their God (or Gods) for the answers.
I find myself with a big void in my life at the moment, and I've often wondered whether what's missing is a faith or belief of sorts, whether 'finding' God would help me to make sense of what's going on. I know though that if it was God that was missing from my life I would already know that for sure deep inside and wouldn't even need to know the answer to the question.
I don't expect I will ever be religious, but then I've known people who've said that all their lives and then suddenly 'found' God in the strangest of ways. My mind remains open, but for the time being my heart remains closed.
Can I ask you whether you think you would still believe, and have the faith that you obviously do, if you hadn't been 'brought up' to believe? How much of your own personal faith is distilled from that of your parents?

Re: Do you have a faith?
Sort of, well more a faith in Jesus's words than anything else, imo they are as relevent today as they were 2000+ years ago, I believe he was trying to tell us that if we just took on board a little of what he said we wouldn't have to worry about Heaven when we died we'd have it here on Earth.
Anyway I'll leave it there coz I actually feel a little sick after posting this

Re: Do you have a faith?
I often wonder wat it would be like to have a faith i believed in, to help support and guide me.
I was brought up to believe that their was a god, but my parents did not follow a faith, although i went to a church school, it was C of E rather than a catholic faith.
Having a tradgedy 8 yrs ago i now question is their really a faith, is their a god.
My daughter aged 9rs died of bone cancer, which is one of the most horrendous painful disease u can have.
So in answer to ur question no i dont have a faith or anythin i believe in as ppl say ur destiny is mapped out for u, but how can this be for such a cruel thing to happen.
Just to add, yes the old cliche time is a great healer, but wen ur child dies, then a bit of u does aswell.
I also cant understand those who can forgive horrendous acts or violence, or illness towards ur loved ones, they say their faith helps them through, how? have often wondered if i would have grieved differently if i believed in god.

My own personal faith is stated in the original post Rob. I`m not a bible basher and i never go to church. I still believe in my faith though. It`s not something you can explain to other people, my sister believes that everything has a soul, that, i dont understand.
Like i said in the O.P, i don`t want people to justify why or why not they have a faith, just asking if they do have one.
Does anyone here ever say " Oh God" OR " For Gods Sake" ? If so, Why do you say it if you do not believe?

I might also say that something is the dog's *******s. That doesn't mean I think that something literally resembles a pair of canine testicles. It's just an expression.

Re: Do you have a faith?
IMHO, god does not exist, if such a person/being did, why would they allow the most precious & innocent things in our lives, children, suffer from things that cannot be printed here.

Re: Do you have a faith?
You do not have to belief in a God to have faith though this is a common misconception I feel
If you believe in evolution and the big bang theory or anything science has told you that no one has actually witnessed for themselves ( dont hit me with the scientific evidence argument now because not everything has been proven and I will just hit back with my infinity argument anyway ) then you have a faith in that
You can have faith in yourselves or those that you love that they will be there for you in times of trouble
all of you that do not have a religious faith have a faith that your opinion is correct and that when you say there is no God because no one not even the most staunch scientist can tell you for definite or better still prove there is not a God
I have a faith for a few reasons. But I believe there is a creator and I believe Jesus came to Earth to atone for the original sin. I do not want to accept that when you die thats it because to me that makes life pretty futile and I do not accept we are not here for a reason.
