back to work ..a few questions
well after nearly 4 months out of work i finally start back on tuesday on a new decent homes site in consett c/durham ..and my god am i looking forward to it ,ive been climbing the walls just lately
anyway a few questions
I bit the bullet and decided i had to sign on last monday so filled out all the forms whent for the interview and was given a date and time next thursday ,this will now not be nescessary but can i still claim for the last 3 months as i back dated the claim to november
i have also just filled out all the forms to claim tax credits ,i don't know anything about these as i have never claimed before so will i stil be able to get some if working ,my wife works 16 hrs a week

You should phone them up and ask what your entitled to. You might be able to claim working tax credit or something similar.

You will get working tax credits, it's based on how much tax you've paid in the last financial year. You can have paid weekly or monthly.

thanks for the advice guys ,i'm going to pursue the 3 months back date especially on the housing benefit just to cover the rent ,i didn't claim before hand because usually lay off isn't this long and managed on the wifes wages for most part and thinking about how much i have paid into the system maybe i can get something back ,the last time i claimed was back in '82 and god it's changed ,they called me a "customer"and sent me a nice letter (arrived this morning)asking if i "felt the experience usefull"..go figure
