Working for a council
Any people employed by a council?
I'm in the process of applying for a job for Broxbourne Council
I have to fill out a stupid application form that is a duplicate of my CV.
But they what to know my full employment history, salary, and employment breaks since I left full time employment.
I left school in June 85, I worked in 'McD' for a couple of months then a year on ITEC.
Between 86 & 88 I did various job and unemployed.
Would they accept can't remember dates and salary?

Re: Working for a council
Employers are usually ok if you stated that dates are approximate only, I doubt everyone can remember the exact dates they started and finished a job.

Re: Working for a council
I cannot remember any dates or salary before April 88.
They also want high school exams and grade, which I cannot remember.

Re: Working for a council
work for the council.
I have to put my own bins out each week, I fill them regularly, occasionally someone comes to collect them. I think I work for the council, or the binmen, don't think they work at all

Be careful about admitting that sort of thing - I posted about a similar subject last year and some people got all judgemental about not ensuring educational certificates were safely collected.

Not me..I'm thinking Homer might need to speak to the parental units as they may well have all that sort of stuff hidden away somewhere.

I remember the grief you got.
I left school back in 1985, god knows where the paperwork is, I doubt my sister has he paperwork form school either.
I worked for a MoD company who didn't need to know that level, I will call tomorrow and ask for advise.
At worse I'll say I won't bother.

I still live at home and they cannot remember date either or where the school paper work is.

Re: Working for a council
You will probably be OK even if you roughly remember - they tend not to ask for O/A level certificates, usually only Degrees.

Re: Working for a council
Why the hell would they want to know what I did over the last 25 years?
Every job I have ever applied for (even the MoD one) only wanted the last two jobs.

Re: Working for a council
I applied (and got) a job at a University - they were the same.
No need to get stressed - just fill it in as best you can.

Re: Working for a council
I've worked for a council for just over two years now. When I got offered my job it was conditional on me presenting evidence to the HR department to back up my qualification claims.
About 60-70% of application forms that i've filled in for the past 8-9 years have asked about current salary. Private or public sector, makes no difference.
ICT access is another reason for the checkable history. All LA's now have to be compliant with a set of rules that govern how they run, and who is able to access their ICT networks.

Re: Working for a council
For employment the month & year should be OK for the majority of previous occupations. Lost my certificates back in the 70's. You will have to learn not to have an opinion (unless it has been checked first)
