Power consumption
I am not sure if this is the right place to post this but maybe the Mods could move it if its not
I am trying to work out how much it costs me in electricity to run my V+box and TV. I know there is a formulae where you multiple killowatt hours by this or that, I just don't know. Does anyone know this formulae or suggest where I might find it?
Thank you

On the back of the TV and the V+ box there should be some information on the power consumption in watts, this is usually the maximum. In standby the power is much lower, TVs generally run around 1 watt. The V+ box takes approximatly 24 watts irrespective of the mode its in.
Your electricity is priced in "Units", a unit is 1000 watts for 1 hour (a kilowatt/hour). If your TV takes, for example, 250watts then it will consume a unit in four hours (4x250 = 1KW/hour)
So take the combined watts of the TV and box and divide 1000 by it to get how long you can run for 1 unit.

Re: Power consumption
the actual wattage rating on the unit will not be accurate. I recently measured my pc consumption using a device you plug into the socket and then that measures the usage.
I was quite surprised at how much less my stuff actually used than I thought
Then of course your unit prices might be higher and lower rate or you may have a standing charge depending on your supplier.
I basically just use a unit rate of 10p per kwh this in the main is higher than my unit price but it may well be lower than your unit price again depending on your tariff

Re: Power consumption
Aldi sold the power meter devices at one time, not sure if there are still some around in the bins of discounted previous offers.
The label figure is a maximum.

Re: Power consumption
Most electrical gear that lists a power consumption lists only the maximum. Anything under that is a bonus.
