Pug 306 1.9 td questions

Picked myself up one of these, 98 Phase II.
I have a creaky back end and I have been informed that I need to replace the trailing arm\axel assembly as a whole unit and that bushes\shocks\springs cant be replaced.

Am I being spun a yarn or do have to replace the whole unit (bearings are good\camber is OK)

TIA

Al

Re: Pug 306 1.9 td questions

Not sure if the rear suspension is similar to the 406, but mine was shot after 65k miles. I believe this was due to the guy I bought it off having speed humps on his street. (One owner car)

My MOT garage mentioned it each year and I always asked them how much for them to fix it, they always sucked their breath and wrote out the MOT certificate. I under stood that for the 406 it was complete arms and it required specialist equipment to set them up after replacement.

I remember looking on GSF and Europe Car Parts for the bushes and there were none listed. It may be worth a look there to see if there are any such bushes listed for the 306

ps I can only see Anti Roll Bar bushes and Subframe mounting bushes on Euro Car Parts

You should get yourself over to www.club-306.com. It costs £6 for a years registration but that £6 has saved me so much money with little problems I've had with my 306 XLdt so it has been well worth it.

Sorry to hear that. On my old 305 I had the bushes alone replaced when the rear suspension developed a rattle. I guess this is the natural course of "design improvement" and "modularisation".
