New Pint Glasses Proposed
Not sure what effect the resin coating might have on the taste...
http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/magazine/8495617.stm
Would this really prevent injury, or would you just get a bottle smashed in your face instead?

Re: New Pint Glasses Proposed
It's not a coating but a wall in between 2 glass containers, so, no it shouldn't have any effect

No, Glass Plus has a resin coating inside the glass. Twin Wall has resin between two glasses.

I guess that establishments in more violence prone areas could insist that the contents of bottles are emptied into a glass before serving.... with the exception of wine of course.

Re: New Pint Glasses Proposed
its just laminate glass ,the same as your car wind screen ,it doesn't shatter just cracks ,it will weigh twice as much as a normal class so will probably knock you out and give you brain damage and they can still be broke given enough force i.e a drunk ,drugged up neanderthol smashing it against a bar

Re: New Pint Glasses Proposed
If you watch the BBC article there were two prototypes
1# is a resin style coating inside of a normal glass
2# was a laminate (plastic sandwiched between two glasses
I can see the first one replacing normal glasses in pubs quite easily as it'll be cheap and effective, but the 2nd one would be expensive and not give a lot of advantage over the first

Re: New Pint Glasses Proposed
Wasn't there a story on this a few years ago. But rejected because the pint glass would cost too much?
