How would one get a restraining order?
My half sister who i don't want anything to do with has been calling around nearly everyday, yesterday she came around and i was hiding from her because she makes me physically sick, my step mum told her i was out, i was listening to every word she was saying, she was slagging my late father off saying some awful things which im not gonna post, she was slagging my sexuallity off, she was going on about how this house was hers, i don't know how she worked that one out because she only ever came to this house once and that was when i was a kid, shes always drunk, shes violent
So im sick of her coming around trying to talk to me, i don't want anything to do with her and never do, if my dad was here he would say the same thing, how would i get a restraining order on her?
ask questions if ya like.

Re: How would one get a restraining order?
I guess it can only be a court.
I could ask my sister but she might be asleep now, all ask her in the morning (she's a paralegal secretary) and knows her stuff.

Have the police been involved before?
No idea about in England but up in Scotland to get an injunction you need to show ongoing and serious harassment and that other methods have failed to work.
You are best to speak to a local lawyer who will know about the full process.

Re: How would one get a restraining order?
You may be better off reporting it as harassment to the police first. that may be enough for her to leave you alone. and you may need to show evidence of previous with her anyway, so that will count.

He's what she has sent.

It is an expensive process and not always easy to get.
If the other person has broken the law and there are bail conditions then he wouldn't necessarily need to apply for one he would just need to check the bail conditions with the police.
However, this doesn't sound like what he can do so I would suggest he go to the Court (open 10 - 4pm) and get the necessary form.
Alternatively he can go to the Court website at: www.hmcs.gov.uk and get the form he needs from there.

Re: How would one get a restraining order?
I'd suggest maybe going to the police first. They may pop round and hopfully that will scare her off and you won't need to pursue it further.

Don't pretend. If she comes round again tell her that you don't want her coming around. Tell her you don't want anything to do with her and if she doesn't leave you'll call the police and ask them to make her leave. If she refuses, call the police. That's the first step to stopping her bothering you any more.

If you're gay and she has been making this an issue too, then make sure you mention this as this is now classed as a hate crime and has to be taken seriously by the police.

Re: How would one get a restraining order?
I'm gonna say something that you probably aint gonna like Frankie but you need to firstly grow a backbone, say what you need to say to her. Be as short and abrupt as you want, tell her that if this "harrasment" carries on you'll take steps to stop this.
But as its a family matter and if no threats are being offered or implied then I dont think a restraining order would do much or be offered. Just my opinion mind.
If she is violent to you and physically abuses you then call the police, remember though. "sticks and stones"
Edit
Just saw Charlies post regarding your sexuality & hate crimes. At the end of the day she's blood, she's ****ed and your gay, hey the worlds a crap place to live in and no doubt over your life time you'll see, read and be told a lot worse, suck it up be a man and take control.
Edit 2
Your sexuality doesnt make you a different person and those that are biggoted (your step sis) need to get over their issues with you.

I have to disagree a bit with that, even the strongest person can be eventually broken.

I have a relative who was allegedly harassing his neighbour (long story don't ask) and they contacted the police. He got a visit the next day from the police for a quiet chat. Perhaps that would resolve the issue although they may have a differant view on family disputes
