Need a small fireproof bag/pouch.

Afternoon all

I have a need for a small fireproof & heatproof bag/pouch/box.

I have a non fireproof safe, into which I wish to place a few small items that need protecting from the fire should the worst happen (a USB stick, a CD, a few small documents).

I was thinking that a small pouch/box about the length and width of a DVD case, but slightly deeper (maybe up to 1" deep) would do the trick.

I've looked at the various fireproof document boxes you can get, but they don't fit in the safe - I would rather not go down the route of having to buy a fireproof safe just for these few things if I can help it.

Thanks

There's "fireproof" and then there's "fireproof"... I use the safes (Sentry) but even they only state they are "fireproof" for a certain time up to a certain temperature. They do a "media" version which supposdly protects disks, etc, but I've never heard how good they are.

I wrap more sensitive items in layers of tinfoil just in case.

I did hear about intumescent material that swells when heated in a fire..

An offsite backup left at a relatives house might also be a good idea maybe?.

Yeah. Considered taking it offsite, don't really have that facility unfortunately.

Post a copy to yourself... from what I've recently experienced it takes about 10 days for a first class package to get to its destination. Then you could not be able to collect it from the local PO depot as "it's out for redelivery mate"... that can add on at least a week more that it would be in their custody.... and there's nothing more secure than the Royal Mail is there?

A possible cheap solution is a couple of plumbers soldering mats
