I assume they ARE cleared, unless you're applying for jobs that recquire an enhanced disclosure CRB check

Re: convictions spent

A spent conviction is not required to be declared by law. However, if you are going for any form of CRB, SC and or DV clearance then you will be required to declare the conviction

Re: convictions spent

If you do a search there are a few threads concerning what a CRB discloses and also the fact that the rehabilitation act is useless as the police can disclose any crime you were interviewed for which they think is relevant on a CRB whether you got found guilty or not or even charged or not.

For example

All depends what sort of job you are going for, some jobs allow the 5 years spent rule but on the other hand some jobs don't follow the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act with regards to the 5 years. If you are working with vunerable people / children a conviction is never spent.

What sort of work is it your after??

Re: convictions spent

The enhanced CRB shows up EVERYTHING you were ever interviewed / cautioned / convicted / imprisoned for, even if it was spent. Standard CRB doesn't show spent convictions, and on an application form you are not required to disclose spent convictions.

Enhanced is normally for school work and or working for government agencies.

Re: convictions spent

Also bear in mind that companies that advertise jobs which will be CRB checked need to specify whether it's a standard or enhanced. If it doesn't, ask them.

The Standard CRB shows all spent convictions, I've got one here that shows a charge I had against me in 1983, it's still on there and will remain on there until the day I throw a 7 and shuffle off.
