As promised here's the new Where in the UK game thread which is what the 2009 Christmas competition was based on.
The rules are simple. One person (me) will start off the game by posting a picture taken either from google earth or google maps of a UK landmark. Everyone else then has to try to guess the name and location of the landmark. The first person to guess the name and location correctly then can either play their own picture of a landmark or pass it back to the last player. If player passes then the first one to post PLAY can take control of the game. If you have an image in play and after 6 hours no-one has taken a guess then consider offering a clue.
There are a few simple technical rules to make sure that the game is fair and it doesn't interfere with the running of the forum.
All guesses must be surrounded by SPOILER tags
ANSWER
(Paste that exact line and change the word answer for your answer)
All images must be an attachment and not linked to [img] or within the post
Image size must be at least 600 pixels on any side and at the most 1000 pixels on any side
All images must be within the UK and be of a recognisable feature or building that is considered to be a landmark
The mods will have the final say in all game disputes unless they are either in play or thier guess is disputed
Only pictures showing a satellite view directly from the google maps/earth applications are allowed and all labels/mapfeatures must be turned off.
Google earth Historical images are also NOT allowed
All images must be north orientated (i.e..North at the top of the image)
You must specifiy PLAY or PASS within your answer. If no game is in play from 6 hours after the first correct answer then any member may post PLAY and continue the game
FYI: Google earth has a save image feature, just resize the window and turn off all labels (untick everything) on the left then select FILE>>SAVE>> SAVE IMAGE. For google maps you'll need a screen capture and a resize/crop tool, labels can be turned off by unchecking the LABELS box shown when you click SATELLITE
