Extremely oversized packaging, dabs.com

So I needed a new powersupply for a PC i was building, I signed up and ordered one with dabs just to try them out. So knock knock, the next day it a courier arrives and I recieve a very large box! It was either gonna be a big cake or my powersupply, an sure enough it was. (the powersupply )

I took some piccys of exactly how it came, (minus the lid) but thats all, i didn't take anything else out, there was no other protection for it.

Im gratefull and everything, but why such an oversized box?
Anyone else experienced this?
It will be going into the recycling, but still.

Last year I had 2GB stick of RAM for my netbook delivered in the same fashion.

Re: Extremely oversized packaging, dabs.com

i had a hard drive delivered like that from Ebuyer, it came in a box the size of a crisp box with bubble wrap around it and all those large air filled pads in the box then.

Nope, it was tucked in like being under a duvet by that 1 piece of plastic in the pic.

Yeah thanks, It seemed to have good reviews, although the first one I recieved from ebuyer was faulty :/ this one works fine though.

down to ( most probably ) only box immediately available and they prefer to ship it on time than wait for the right box

Re: Extremely oversized packaging, dabs.com

Cables and software in boxes that size are usually what we get at work from Insight.

Re: Extremely oversized packaging, dabs.com

So much is wasted in excess packaging.

At work we had to order 2 replacement mice. Not only did they come in a box that could have fit about 15 mice, they had a box within another box.
