Just to clarify, Zingle is joking about the blowing
Probably a sinus infection or trauma, wonder if you have been on a plane recently
I'd go and see a doc as Zing suggests, just to be on the safe side

Intriguing as now my imagination is working overtime...
However it could be that you have an infection of your Eustation tube from your throat into your middle ear.I've had that a few times..lots of pressure in the ear and even temporary deafness can ensue.See a doctor as it's the only way to deal with it...

Re: pressure/water in ear
Oooh i had this and went to doc who told me it was just my cold had blocked up the little tube and to try and steam it out.
Well i did with some vicks in hot water, towel over head, which fixed it temporarily but i just had to wait for it to go away on its own, that took almost 2 days. I was half deaf for that time and it was so annoying.
Might be an infection in your case though so go to doc.

Sorry, but ...
How did you get it?
Another possibility, it could be a wax plug. I got one over the summer, which I assumed at first was water in my ear as I'd been swimming a lot. Went to the GP eventually, and got ear drops to use for a week before returning to see the practice nurse, who dealt with it using a sort of pressure washer.

Re: pressure/water in ear
I often get this as I have a kink in both Eustachian tubes... keeping your mouth open whilst blowing your nose in future is a good idea as it stops snot getting blown into them.
Swallowing whilst holding your nose is good therapy, as is the old mentholated inhaler method.

Could be the water, close to the ear drum and or some still in there, in the middle ear. If you can, sleep on that ear for a few nights, it will / should pass. Pop to your doctor, as it could become infected.

Olive oil works wonders for wax plugs. The missus had a serious case of wax plugs a while back, which caused her serious pain. It had to be lanced (I presume that's your 'pressure washer' treatment), but the people at the surgery wouldn't touch it before it had softened enough. The advice was to get a dropper bottle, fill it with olive oil, and get a few drops of olive oil (warm preferably) into the ear a few times a day. She was also advised that doing so regularly (once a month) can be very helpful in preventing wax plugs from forming if your ear is inclined to form them. Nowadays, I occasionally find my woman in bed with bits of tissue sticking out of her ears to stop the olive oil smudging the pillows
