2003 RENAULT Megane 1.9 Dci 120 Dynamique

Anybody ever owned one of these, or own one currently?

What are they like to drive? Any good on long journeys? Economical?

Any problems/issues with them that anybody's aware of?

Did you not have some issues with the one that you owned.

I had that exact model, great to drive. About 50mpg in mixed driving, used to commute 500 miles a week in it.

No real problems except you have to have small hands to change the headlamp bulbs. They are accessed through a small panel in the wheel arch, no way in through the bonnet!

Mine was a 1999 Megane Coupe petrol, and its gone now - due to age more than anything. But you'll still find me on RF regularly as I'm a Super Mod there

I remember seeing that on 5th gear a while back and they got an RAC guy to do it and he struggled to do it.

Just having a quick nosey about for you and turbo issues seem to be the most-mentioned complaints

I have large hands & I managed once, in my drive, with the car jacked up & the wheel off.

Next time I took it to the dealers & they did it for free. Mechanic had it up on the hydraulic lift & it still took him 10 minutes!

Re: 2003 RENAULT Megane 1.9 Dci 120 Dynamique

A contractor at work has a 53 plate 1.9 diesel Megane. He's had to spend quite a bit of money on it recently, but then his has done a lot of miles now i.e over 100k now. I think he gets a reasonable mpg out of it.

I've had petrol megane's before and they are ok to drive. Beware of the card thing that you use to start them with. One of mine had to be repaired after a prang and after that I sometimes had problems where the car wouldn't start unless you did a bizarre sequence of things with the clutch, gears, handbrake etc. Can't exactly remember what it involved, but the first time it happened I had to call the RAC out to help me.
