Annoying calls
I am having constant calls from an Indian call centre, this has been happening for about two weeks, I have had two today I keep telling them to take me off their database and not to ring me again.
They keep asking who is my energy provider but I have told them this is none of their business but they will not give up they are blocking their caller ID so I can't get the number that they are ringing from.
Any help would be appreciated !

Re: Annoying calls
As far as I know there is very little you can do about it when the calls originate from abroad.
I'm toying with the idea of getting one of these myself, but they're not cheap. It sounds like a very good idea though.

Thank for that, I too have been thinking of getting one of these but some of the people who call me have the caller ID blocked so I do not think they will be let through.
I still might get one as I am struggling to be civil and could blow a fuse any moment, I also had a call from PC Pro today, oh joy !!

Click the link and play the videos, it can deal with any call and if I felt the need for something like that then I would give it a go.

Re: Annoying calls
I have read the description for this unit and didn't like this bit, "Caller ID/SMS
If you are on cable we do not guarantee that SMS or Caller ID will work due to the differing exchange protocol used. This is not classed as a fault or covered in your guarantee.

Re: Annoying calls
Keep a whistle at the side of the phone and give it a good lung full down the mouth piece when they ring.

Re: Annoying calls
I changed my energy supplier a few years ago due to the appaling service I was getting from British Gas. Since then they often call me trying to get me back as a customer.
The other day I received another call from a British Gas call centre, I told the member of staff that I wasn’t interested and could they please remove my number from their database as I'd requested 6 times before. He refused to listen, telling me I wasn’t giving them a chance, that they had new management and that Energywatch had said how much they had improved. I still politely told the caller that I wasn’t interested and to remove my number, but he persisted until I had to hang up on him. It was only then did I think how familiar he sounded, then it struck me, he had the same pleading style of the phonejacker's Mr Broadbandings
I've now written to the Manging director of British Gas to stop these calls, as a letter to the data controller did nothing.
I too have been having a look at the truecall system, looks quite useful.

When I first moved in to my place the previous occupant had died (not in the house I hasten to add) so when they called asking for Mrs xyz, I'd say "I'm sorry she's dead!" Stunned silence, not in the script. Ha ha.
