Parcelforce
Ok so i was/am expecting a delivery today as i used the 24hr service. I just tracked the parcel online and the status is 'in progress' which to me seems like it's not even at the depot yet, and the last two updates were from 2:40am this morning saying;
PARCEL MISSSORTED
Parcel on route to correct depot
Should i give up hope of it turning up today?
Oh and UKmail haven't delivered something today which was supposed to turn up before 12.....i wish these companies used RM!!!

Re: Parcelforce
Parcel Farce, I hate it.
I can get a delivery, if at all, anytime on someday from 07.00 AM onwards................
Invariably I find they sit in the lorry and write out the "we tried to deliver but.." postcard then quickly run across the road, shove it through the letterbox, leap back into the truck and drive away. You get the door open just in time to see the truck driving away.
Parcel Farce are not the only exponents of this strategy however as the letter post Guys and Gals are keen on delivering the "We tried to deliver an item that was too big for your letterbox..............." postcard. A simple knock on the door seems to be beyond their capabilities most of the time.
As a retired working man I did find I felt sympathy toward the workforce in their fight against intransigent management during the recent strike however back in the real world I would not shed a tear if Royal Mail in all their guises collapsed completely.
I know all Posties don't behave like this but as usual a few bad eggs spoil it for everyone.

Re: Parcelforce
ParcelForce = Royal Mail. 2 separate companies, same umbrella corporation.

There was a postie on the radio a couple of weeks admitting they did this. The managers of his depot actually told them to do this and some would write out the postcards in advance without the package/ parcel ever leaving the depot. It was all about the managers achieving targets to get their bonus.
Sounds like fraud to me.

Never heard of that one, doesn't really make sense to me to be honest. It takes a lot less effort to just deliver the parcel than to take it out with you write out the card and then take it back. And as far as managers bonuses are concerned they are unaffected by things like p739s (Returned parcels). Infact the only way I could think of that it could even effect them would be to lower their bonuses as RM delivery office managers bonuses are paid based on staff hours i.e. Fewer staff employed or fewer hours worked = bigger bonus. More p739s = more staff in the phg bay = lower bonus.
For people who are frequently out I have written the card in advance quite a few times in the past especially if the weather is bad so I know writing the card may be difficult but I always knock and wait at least 30 seconds before posting the card and walking on.

Re: Parcelforce
I know someone who lost a whole week load of parcels he sent by Royal Mail and they admitted losing all of them. Time it was privatised. Theres gonna be lot of disappointed people waiting for christmas gifts which wont turn up till Easter, if at all, cos they're misplaced in a depot somewhere.

You'll know better than me but the guy claimed to be a postie, I think it was the Jeremy Vine show on Radio 2.
My assumption was that if you didn't bother taking parcels with you then you'd finish your round quicker or be capable of doing a larger round in the same time.

A whole 30 seconds
All the time in the World for the disabled with mobility problems to get to and manage to open the front door.
Maybe some of your "frequently out" are not frequently out at all but still struggling to get to and into their wheelchairs when you are already striding off up the Road.

Most of the disabled people I have ever delivered to who require more than 30 seconds are sensible enough to leave a notice near their door. Those that don't really should consider it. Besides 30 seconds is ample even for some of the most severely disabled people I have encountered, If you think thats not long enough you could always start a petition etc because we simply don't have the time to wait any longer. And just to put things in perspective most posties deliver to over 600 addresses per day and thats not including flats, If I waited a minute at each it would take me over 10 hours to complete my route and that doesn't include toilet stops, breaks and picking up bags.

If it doesn't turn up in time claim compensation for it, you have paid for 24 hour service, thats what you should get

Just to put things further in perspective, you are inferring that all your 600 calls require you to knock and wait one minute which is patently as false as your reasoning.
Your disregard for the minority who might need you to dispense a few extra minutes of your precious time only serves to further illustrate my original point.
