Spare a thought....
Today when our youngest's SEN bus arrived to take him to school, I enquired about one of the young girls who's shared the service with him for around 3 years now. She is wheelchair bound with a variety of serious medical problems and is often away from school for short periods but it seemed like ages since we'd seen her. Anyway, the escort told me she'd been seriously ill and is now on a life support machine suffering from severe septicemia and not expected to live much longer.... That poor little girl was born with so many problems and has spent her whole life fighting them in one way or another. God only knows how much her parents are suffering now - it doesn't bear thinking about! Tragedy like this puts so much into perspective and from time to time I think we should all spare a thought for those who're worse off.

Re: Spare a thought....
Nicely put and of course you are absolutely right.
Lets hope she confounds the medics and pulls through.

Best wishes to her and her family at this difficult time, always sad when a little one suffers.

Re: Spare a thought....
This is bad, I hate it when children get ill, I wish I could take all the pain away from children when they get ill. I wish her family the best I hope she pulls through but like Osem said she's been through a lot since birth and her body can only take so much. I hope she pulls through.

Re: Spare a thought....
I've just been listening to an excellent and extremely moving interview with the mother of a severely disabled child. It's too soon to post an iPlayer link now but when it becomes available I will do so and would urge everyone to listen. The mother concerned spoke with huge dignity, compassion and love about the realities of caring for a disabled child and the heart-rending choices that sometimes have to be made. I'm sure her words will inspire many people whether carers or not.
I will certainly pass on the good wishes posted here.

Re: Spare a thought....
Here's the link to the interview:
http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode...re_05_11_2009/
which lasts for about the first 45 minutes of the 3 hour programme.
IMHO it's very well worth a listen whether you're a carer or not...

Well very sadly we've just received the news that little Jade died yesterday. RIP Our thoughts are with her parents, friends and loved ones.

Re: Spare a thought....
Aww thats just so sad, I've worked with adults born with multiple problems who passed away young. At least now she won't suffer anymore having been through so much in her short life - at peace at last. My thoughts and wishes are with her family and friends.
RIP Jade

Re: Spare a thought....
Our little lad came home from his first day back at school today with a note from his school containing some more very sad news. One of his classmates died very suddenly on Christmas day Of course he doesn't understand why his friend isn't around anymore but at the same time we feel so sorry for the family concerned who've lost the 'special' child they've struggled for so long to nurture and protect. We can only imagine the awful pain and enormous sense of loss they're feeling now.
God bless you 'H' - RIP x

A very sad end to last year with Jade and the young man Osem. My thoughts and best wishes go out to both sets of parents. R.I.P.

Re: Spare a thought....
I don't have anything else to add to the comments made by all the previous caring forum members but I felt the need to voice my sadness at the loss of these precious children.
Dealing with death is hard enough when you are an adult, it must be very difficult for the other children, and their parents, to come to terms with the loss of their school friends.
