I stopped smoking overnight, and what done it for me, was seeing my father die in front of me of cancer cuased by heavy smoking, and he weighed 3 stone, when he passed away.
I have not smoked for over 30 years, anyone who wants to give up, go to a local hospital and see people some young and old, that will put it off smoking.

Right that's it i'm giving up this thread has really given me a boost with Mr A's savings, i've been really trying the last 2 weeks but slipped a couple of times (picking up my new car tonight) and that my incentive to give up as the money i save will pay for the car each month and more.
any tips for me please HELP!!!

I gave up in January 2009 so rather pleased with myself although medical reasons conviced me I had to. It's just the odd time I think about having a puff, that was yesterday when couldn't get a new printer installed and working on my imac, that stressed me out, still can't get it printing today, I can use the scanner though.

Well i'm on day 4 now and i have too say i haven't missed it one bit yet, i tried everything before and couldn't do it, but this time i have been to the docs and got a tablet called Champix you carry on smoking for the first 8 to 12 days then just stop, i stopped on day 11 and it now day 15 and i've got one tablet left (but i didn't take any today) as i wanted to see how i went without them, and so far so good
Dam chuffed with myself so far
