Cheque guarantee to end in 2011

The cheque guarantee card system will end on 30 June 2011 although it will still be possible to write a cheque, an industry body reveals.

I can.It's how I pay my milkman though he's very keen for me to pay by DD these days or use his online facility.Never going to happen.Too many people want access to DD on my account as it is.

Two things are suprising there

1) You still have a Milkman

2) They have an online facility

I write two cheques a year, to the management company. They won't accept payment any other way.

Well for a long while I didn't but about 3 years ago a local franchise started up again.I don't get milk every day but I don't need to trot along to the supermarket all the time.The online idea has been set up in the last 3 months so customers can change their milk order the day before or even cancel when going away..

I wright exactly twelve chegues a year, all to my credit card company.

Its easier than going to the bank and using the giro thing they send with it.

I could transfer it electonically but never used it so don't know how

Wish they would do that around here - although it would probably all get nicked

In regards to cheques, last time I wrote one is a few years ago when I got my sums wrong one month. I had to go use one of those cashing places.

With the guarantee going I don't think they will be around for much longer

hmm wonders how charities will cope after this

two i am treasurer and chair of do practically all payments for things via cheques mainly because 2 of us have to sign to pay out money i have already had to cancel one internet bank we had because it enabled any one of the signees to move money

It shouldn't affect you it is only the guarantee part that is being withdrawn.
