I just hope that 999 texts get priority. I can sometimes wait hours for a SMS to be delivered.

Problem with this is that by design, texts only use the overhead space in a mobile phone network's system. If the companies were to guarantee texting to a specific number, then it'd mean moving it to the main network.

Yup - no QoS on SMS (or there wasn't when I worked for BT Cellnet/O2).
