NRAS Fundraiser: The Great Rail Race.

Hi Folks,

Firstly can I thank the folks who run Cable Forum, for kindly allowing me to post this here

On 8th/9th September I'm going to make a journey by rail to raise funds for the National Rheumatoid Arthritis Society

The great rail race won’t involve me cycling long distances, leaping out of a plane, or anything strenuous at all (after all my rebuilds I'm not up to that!) My plan is to travel from Birmingham to Inverness and back to Birmingham by train.

What’s the big deal with that I hear you ask? Ohh did I not mention that I’d be going via Penzance and London on the outward journey, and returning via York on the last leg. My plan is to complete the challenge in 2 days, and I plan to blog the entire journey as it progresses.

I’ve always loved rail travel, and having worked for British Rail before the RA forced me into retirement on ill health grounds, I have a good knowledge of the rail network and what I could achieve.

Total Mileage for the trip is around 1806 Miles

I have now set up my just giving page which you can find here

http://www.justgiving.com/RoboJo

Even a tiny donation of a £1 can help NRAS to continue their work for people with Rheumatoid Arthritis.

Many thanks for all of your support

Jo.

Re: NRAS Fundraiser: The Great Rail Race.

Hi folks,

quick update on my fundraiser..

I've had a call from Val at NRAS HQ today, it seems that Scotrail have kindly donated a sleeping berth for the London - Inverness leg of my journey next week.

So my thanks go to Scotrail for their very kind offer, and the folks from CF who've donated too.

Re: NRAS Fundraiser: The Great Rail Race.

Quick update for you all.

Both Cross Country trains and First Great Western have upgraded me to first class on their services for my fund raiser.

I'd best find some posh clothes for this trip now!

Thanks again

Jo.
