Used Cars - any point in haggling?
Hiya - I am in the market for a used car - with the state of the car market - is there any point in haggling these days or are the used cars pretty much getting sold at cost?
I seen a Ford Focus 1.6 55 plate with 50000 miles on the clock for £5k - I wonder if they would take 500 off it?

Sounds expensive to me, try using autotrader, you can customise your search, I jusr did one and found similar cars for between £2500 to £4000.

Parkers say for a 1.6LX 5dr 55 with 40K - £5200 from an independent dealer. It's probably not far off depending on the exact model, but don't ask, don't get!

I remember someone saying to me years ago "If your first offer doesn't embarrass you it's too high"
It's worked well for me.

If you can't get them down on the price, try for free tax or more warranty. I managed to get 12 months tax out of my Ford dealer

If you are going to haggle be prepared to walk away if you dont get the deal your after. There are lots of cars out there dont go for the first one that you see.

Re: Used Cars - any point in haggling?
Its got plenty of life left in that - especially if its got full ford history - looks like an ex cop car to me though...or network rail (they are usually the only 2 that purchase focus estates in white

Mmmm not a bad motor that, even with 97,000 on the clock them TDCI engines are good for 300,000.

ADT, G4S, Kone Elevators also have Fords in white, if I was looking for a car I'd go for that.
