Household Budgets?

Ok, I'm trying to do some budgeting, but have no real frame of reference to work from - I'm hoping that some of you other good chaps and chapesses can assist.

So, assumptions:
  • Single adult, living alone;
  • 2 Bedroom property.
Outgoings:
  • Gas;
  • Electric;
  • Water;
  • Insurance;
  • Council tax;
  • Food.
Questions:
  1. Ignoring Internet, Telephone, and Television services, Rental, and Transport, have I missed any potential bills on the above list (note: household bills only)?
  2. How much would you budget for paying for the above (monthly)? If possible please break down each line.
Thanks

Re: Household Budgets?

Im a heavy leccy user £72 quid a month covers gas and leccy

Water £20 per month

house insurance 25 grand with full accidental damage 8 quid a month

council tax depends on band around a ton

food depends on diet 30 quid a week perhaps

around 100 quid a week is put by for all my bills and I get change

Re: Household Budgets?

My outgoings are approx £850 which does take into account a mortgage £350, mobile phone £35, Internet/TV/Phone £27. Then there's the car, credit card and loan on top of it

I'd be happy to give you a breakdown but it depresses me when I see how much I pay out

Dont forget necessities such a car insurance and petrol.

Re: Household Budgets?

I'm single and live in a 2 bed house with gas central heating and electric fan oven.

Gas - £31
Electric - £26
water - £14
Council Tax - £97 (includes 25% discount for single person)
Food - £200 (rough guess)

TV Licence - £13? (can't remember)

Re: Household Budgets?

No need mate, but thanks anyway - I just need something fairly rough at the moment, appreciate the offer though

Re: Household Budgets?

Both my gas an elecy have dropped by £10 each this month as they have adjusted the DD.

They keep trying to drop my DD in the summer but I never let them as they (NPower) seem to forget I use a lot more gas in the winter

But gas will probably double when it gets cold if you're lucky enough to have a gas supply. I'm all electric and in the winter its not unusual to have a £100 a month leccy bill, summer months is less than £30.

I pay by DD so it does get adjusted every now and then. The most its been was £41 or that might have been elecy as both same supplier so i get my Tesco clubcard points.

Yes it makes a huge difference if you have electric heating (ouch).
