Hi Guys,
As i'm desperatly, trying to find work at the moment - I am hoping, somebody could take a look at my CV. I've been round and round in circles, would be nice to get a third opinion.
Thanks

Re: CV Feedback
My husbands company manager always says that the key thing she looks for at first when looking at many job applications is the covering letter when sending the CV.
My lad tweaked his covering letter with some advise from her, and then the calls for him to go to interviews started coming in.
I wish you well Webcrawler.

You need to be far more elaborate. You need to tell them why you are interested in the job, why you want to work form them, what relevant experience you have, and generally sound interested. Think of all the positives in the job, and make it sound like your experience and interests in life match up with the job/company.
What type of work are you generally applying for?

What type of businesses have you worked in and what kind of salary are you after (in an ideal world), just to give us something to go from.

Then you need to say stuff like: As you can see in my attached cv I have x years experience in a, b and c. I am particularly attracted to this position as it will allow me to gain further expertise in blah blah blah.
Other things to say are about the company/field the company operates in, and how you're excited at the prospect of working in that field. Generally, it pays off to gather as much information about the position as you can, and use that in your letter. (That's assuming you apply directly to the company, rather than through an agent).
Imagine the person shortlisting going through a pile of applications. The cover letter is the thing that allows you to stand out, as you can tailor it to the position, and give it a personal touch.
Oh, in my experience it is also good to give really careful thought to the final sentence of your cover letter. You want something that is snappy and stands out (in a positive way).
A *good* cover letter can take as much as a day to write (depending on how desparate you are or how many positions you're applying for obviously).

Re: CV Feedback
webcrawler, I've stripped your name & contact info etc. from it & re-attached it.
Not really a good idea to post that much personal info IMO

Re: CV Feedback
I can't comment on your IT skills, but I would go into more detail about personal interests - even if you have to make them up.
Potential employers want to know about your interests and how these may relate to your role, how you will fit into a team etc and show a bit of your personality, so game playing could just look like you want to escape at the end of the day (even if you do).
Do you read? Play a musical instrument? Enjoy car mechanics? Sports? Elaborate and show a bit of your personality
Just my two-penneths worth - good luck

Re: CV Feedback
Why isn't your company 'Irage Internet Ltd' down on your CV?
