Show and Hotel in London August 14th.

Hiya all, We need a bit of help here.
We have not been to London for ages apart from two in and out business trips. We don't know the place at all really.

We fancy a show and a very nice hotel, not too far away from Kings Cross Railway Station, but near enough the theatre area as well.

We are Lastminute.com type of people, I never like to pay full price for hotels.
Plenty of top secret hotels to choose from, but its just that I don't know what area I should be looking in for them.

Help would be greatly appreciated!!

Directions to a good show and hotel website as well that you can reccomend also if anyone knows of any.

Also, can anyone reccommend a good show?
I like lively stuff, my husband fancies going to see Warhorse though, anyone seen it?
I know its personal taste really, but I like to hear what others think as well.

Thanks, Lucy.

Lucy

you may find this map of London theatres useful, and this site lists which shows are on, including ones that are closing and new shows coming up. I have heard very good things about Avenue Q, which is a (apparently) a grown-up ruder version of the Muppets.

What sort of hotel do you like (boutique, very modern, inexpensive, etc), as it is easy to get to most theatres in London by tube/walking.

btw, I would strongly recommend not staying at the Strand Palace Hotel.

Thanks foreverwar, great site for the theatres!

Is my online persona so bad that you reccomend that show to me?
(It looks ace!)
I can just see myself coming out the theatre singing "The internet is for porn"
Right up my husbands street that

I like nice classy hotels when we are treating ourselves, but at a cheap price, we may go for two nights now.

Re: Show and Hotel in London August 14th.

I can strongly recommend The Academy, which is where my wife and I went on a Theatre weekend to celebrate the 20th anniversary of our first meeting. It's very classy, but also a small boutique hotel within walking distance of a lot of theatres.

They do a wonderful "romantic weekend", which includes, when you arrive, rose petals on the bed, chilled champagne and strawberries dipped in chocolate, and breakfast in bed one of the two days. To make it extra-special, we went for the suite, and I flew my wife down from Leeds and met her at Heathrow, as I was flying in from Denver on the Saturday morning.

Re: Show and Hotel in London August 14th.

have a look at londontown.com and of course lastminute.com for good offers on hotels & theatre. superbreak also do offers, and browsing the brochure - you could ask for a mystery hotel in mayfair, or try laterooms... best thing is to phone and get people to do the running around getting quotes for you

Re: Show and Hotel in London August 14th.

Googled foreverwars place.....................WOW! What a place!
One lucky wife there.
Fully booked for a double for the dates we want, prob for the best as I like to do it classy but cheap!
You know what I mean Laura!

Found a good 5* for £260 for two nights, which is 55% less than top price, but its a buy it now, and if you have to cancel before you loose it all...............so tempted!!

That show he mentioned is so up my street as well, by bad old days are coming back to play I think!

Re: Show and Hotel in London August 14th.

Late Rooms usually have some quite good deals but always check direct with the hotel and compare prices as they can be cheaper.

Re: Show and Hotel in London August 14th.

It's always worth checking to see if your chosen hotel is listed on www.booking.com as the guest reviews can be most informative.

Tripadvisor.com is useful in that respect as well.
