Junior Moment

Seeing as we have a Senior moment thread and some of those are a right giggle I thought we should have a junior one..

You have to keep in mind that I am 40 now and this story very very rarely sees the light of day.

Well, I must of been getting on to 8yrs old when this happened, it was the beginning of February as I was just sitting around listening to my mum explaining the protocol of Valentines Day to my older sister 'o0o me thinks, the secret love of my life 'Wendy aged 9' would love a gift from me'.

Off I go to raid the savings and armed with 15p I go up to the paper shop and buy a Valentines card, back in my bedroom I take my best neatest school pen and start swearing my undying love to Wendy.

All the words I heard mum saying to my sister were floating round my head, sweety, hearts, love, friend etc, and yes I know sweety is a tad cheesy but everyone called everyone that, or seemed to..

At 8yrs old, and not the best of spellers in the world and in a love panic is not the time to try and become a poet so I thought I had better use the KISS method, Keep It Simple Stupid.

SO I wrote..

Wendy,

I know we play out as a gang a lot but I would like you to be my girlfriend as I think you are a sweaty...

I waited till the wee small hours, 9pm in my case, and off I trotted to post the card, success, but as I was leaving the garden Wendy's mum saw me so she knew who sent it!!

As luck has it we moved out the area when I was 13 so I only got 5 yrs of ribbing from my friends / Wendy's 3 sisters / neighbours and the postman.

And no she never did reciprocate the love..
