First Senior moment
So there I am pedalling away on route to work this morning when it suddenly dawns on me that the roads were a lot quieter than usual.
I could hear birds twittering instead of roaring of engines and the piledriving for the M74 extension....
Yes my failing eyes had registered 6:28 on the bedside alarm clock when it was only 5:28
I had tiptoed downstairs so as not to wake anybody else up, dressed in the kitchen without looking at the clock, and had cycled 3 miles before the penny dropped.
I ended up spending some time cycling round parts of Glasgow that I hadn't visited for ages. I quite enjoyed it. I'm looking forward to some more senior moments now.
So own up you Golden Oldies what's your favourite/funniest senior moment?

Re: First Senior moment
Playing golf about 2 years ago and finished putting out suddenly realised I'd lost the cover from my putter. That was until my mate told me it was on the putter all the time.....................kept that one quiet until now

HaHa
I hope you penalised yourself as that probably contravenes R&A rules.

Re: First Senior moment
OK, I'll admit to having Senior Moments but wouldn't like to share to many of them in case you lot realise just how batty I am.
One I will admit to was putting what I knew was the correct numbers in the machine that authorises card payment at the till of my local supermarket. LOL I'm even having one now as I can't for the life remember what the machine is called...does it have a name? I'm sure it has a name.
Well to stop rambling I ended up having to put the number in again as it came up wrong the first time. When it said I had put the wrong number in for a second time I had a dicky fit, decided it was the card playing up and so used an alternative card which of course I had to tip out the contents of my handbag on to the counter to find.
It wasn't until I again punched in the numbers that it dawned on me I had been using the house alarm number.

More than once coming in after a hellish shift I've been standing in front of the alarm keypad trying desperately to think of what the code is. I've been using the same one for almost 10 years so I really should have no excuse.

At least you have your keypad moments in private.
My tantrum was in a busy supermarket in view of, what felt like as I slunk away, the whole of Manchester.

Reporting my car stolen from a local supermarket carpark.
I tend to always park in the same area, this time I had not, and went back to the usual area I park in and thought it was gone.............................boy did I feel stupid!
Another time when the car had actually been stolen from outside a leisure center, walking all around the car park trying to find it, even though I knew it had been parked right outside.

Reminds me of the one where the guy reported his car stolen from him home after he returned from the shops, only hours later remembering he drove the shops, then walked home

Re: First Senior moment
Can't remember anything in the rules of golf that refer to being a dozy old ******?? :-) I think it should be to be shot rather than a 2 shot penalty

I think that there's a rule about not being allowed to change the characteristics of a club during a round. Leaving the cover on could be construed to being doing just that
If I were your playing partner I'd let it go................ then ponder whether to blackmail you or regale the clubhouse with the tale

Walking the ten paces from the computer into the kitchen and then wondering why I'd gone in there. There is no hope when you get this bad.

Re: First Senior moment
I get about 1/2 a mile down the road to work and then can't remember if I've shut/locked the front door or not.
Once I went back, made sure I did and by the time I got 1/2 mile down the road had forgotten again!

Re: First Senior moment
Yes harmitage it's a time when you want the ground to open so you can throw yourself in. Mind you the way I'm putting atm I'd probably miss that as well. I think the present Mrs B has a few choice stories as well which she keeps for social gatherings or when I've had too many glasses ot the grape.

Re: First Senior moment
Not golden oldie, but I did have a very stupid one at the Lowestoft Air Festival recently. When the thunderstorm on the Friday came over and dumped several gallons of water on the promenade, my stewards took cover in a marquee. When I went to see where they'd got to, I asked them "are you OK for water?" meaning "are you OK for bottled water since it's been hot today". The smiles and laughs I got from the many people in said marquee made me feel very silly!
