Wasps

Last monday i had a wasp nest destroyed that was in my attic and the size of a football.
On friday i went up to remove it and while up there had a look round to make sure no wasps were flying around up there.
Yesterday (sat) i noticed a few more wasps flying around another part of my roof , so i again went up into the attic to see if i could see anything and yes there was the start of a new nest the size of a tennis ball , so i got a stick and knocked it down into a plastic bag , allready there was maggots in it.
There are still wasps hanging around the same area so im hopeing they will soon realise there nest is no longer there and clear off.
At the moment we have to keep all windows near there shut as they keep coming in.
I was woundering if i spray the area with wasps spray would that do the trick and would they then clear off.

Re: Wasps

We had a wasps nest several years ago in our attic, which our local council kindly destroyed for us. We were advised to leave the dead nest (football sized aswell) where it was, as this would deter wasps from coming back to the same location. The reason being, that if they 'see' a dead nest, they know it's not a good place to inhabit.

Hope this is of some help

Re: Wasps

To answer the question though, wasp/fly killer spray doesn't persist in the area where you use it for any length of time. It will kill any insects in the room when you use it but it won't deter them from coming back, or kill them if they do.

Re: Wasps

After being infected twice last summer and paying the council both times to treat the area. I bought some Rentokill wasp nest killer powder online. Did the job with no problems.

you really should be more careful
back on subject , had loads of wasp nests over the years, just be damn careful when attacking a large nest , one false move and your covered in angry wasps.

There's only one good kind of wasp: A dead one.

Watch out though, according to one red top we're due to be invaded by North African and European hornets: Think wasps on steroids 2" long and nastier sting.

Eeek! Get me outta here!
