Static Caravan Help!!
Hi
I am new to this and would like some advice please. We are looking to buy our first static caravan a willerby jupiter (1995) we have been offered a very good deal and it is within the price we want to pay incase we decide touring is still better for us.
It is very modern as been re-decorated throughout so even better. Can anyone tell us if buying a caravan at this age is a good idea or does it not matter with statics, is there anything we should look for i.e damp etc
It is currently sited but we have found a site closer to home who will tranfer at a reasonable cost and allow caravans of any age on there site as long as they are looked after.
Any advice would be appeciated as we have many doubts
Thanks
K x

Re: Static Caravan Help!!
Hi K.
From what I remember when i owed a static, there are cut off years onsites for the age of a caravan, it varies site to site, i can't remember waht the 'average' age is, check on the site/s you have chosen.
As for things to look for, check on the underside / outside underneath near the bathroom, kitchen and any other water outlet for signs of leaks. Check all pipes visisble for leaks or previous leaks. Check windows, inside and out for water damage / ingress.
I can't think of much more at the moment.

Hi Bobdude
Do you think the age matters?

Re: Static Caravan Help!!
The age definitely matters, some sites have limits on the age of a caravan.

Re: Static Caravan Help!!
I think the age will matter as most mainstream sites have minimum age limit so check what the site T&Cs are that you are thinking of using as you could end up with an expensive chicken coop.
That is probably why it is going for a good price.

Re: Static Caravan Help!!
our site says they dont as long as they are kept in good condition, they have a clause in the t&c's about a 10yr licence then it can be reviewed but they said they have to put this in and only ask people to move or upgrade if they arn't looked after. We have looked around the park and there are some very tatty ones so they musnt adhere to it that strictly and they have assured us we will have at least 6yrs. should we be wary at what they say?

If that is the site you want to be on then go for it if the price is right but ensure you get what they promised in writing first as part of the contract.

Re: Static Caravan Help!!
it is a private sale and we have found the site ourself. Our site said because it is a good caravan they will tranfer it but normally as a rule would only tranfer caravans not more than 10yr old. But once on the site they can be of any age

Re: Static Caravan Help!!
I was told they had to be decomissioned after 12 years, but that could be wrong or differ from site to site

Re: Static Caravan Help!!
Have you been to this site? Might be of some help to you.
Just noticed it's a membership fee site. So, you might want to consider another search for free info first.
