Looking for information on a motorbike.

I'm looking for information and the authenticity on a Triumph Purple Heart. Aparently 500 bikes were commisioned of which 48 were made. Of those 48 only 12 remain. The bikes were to be made by Triumph during the 90's for export to the US, something to do with the Purple Heart medal (hence the name). I dont have the reg or any other info other than what I have posted.

Was this bike commisioned and whats the back story behind the bike.
