Home electrical issue

The power on all the sockets on one breaker have stopped working. The breaker hasn't tripped though. Everything flickered, TV, plugged in light, etc, for a few seconds, then went out. I reset the RVD and it came back on, flickered, then shut off and now it just wont come back on.
I have unplugged everything on that ring main with no effect, am i looking at a blown breaker or something more serious?

Thanks

Re: Home electrical issue

Could be blown breaker or loose or burnt connection on the breaker.

Re: Home electrical issue

I concur, a breaker can fail and for safety they're designed to fail in the open circuit position.

Re: Home electrical issue

Turns out a neutral has come loose in a plug and the neutral in the box was a bit loose too, I love my electrician, no charge. The plug that broke was one of only 3 he hadn't replaced in the house too!
