Meat now, sex later
This strategy seems to work well in the Ivory Coast.

Pity the poor vegetarians - no meat, in so many different ways.

I always suspected that the a man taking you out for a meal on a date meant he had an ulterior motive.
Now I know it's what's hidden in their genes that causes their apparent generosity.

Doesn't sound like a completely conclusive study. Sounds more like the males are being generous and the females are favouring the generous ones.

Can I be different and bring fish instead. Much healthier than meat.

Re: Meat now, sex later
I often wonder if the researchers are still getting over the shock of discovering after decades of assuming chimps were mainly veggies that a) that chimps do eat meat and b) that they're almost frighteningly effective hunters - if a chimp hunting party consists of 10 or more chimps, their observed success rate is 100%.
When was the last time Charlotte Uhlenbroek (Chimpanzee Diary) appeared on TV (too long ago, I reckon!)? I was well impressed by her - beauty and brains, and she's not afraid of roughing it in the jungle. Unsurprisingly she's married...

Indeed - in fact, they have been known to use spears to hunt bush babies.

Oh dear. If they've learned how to manufacture and use projectile weaponry...hmm. Um...has anyone seen a black monolith in that region? Utterly black, inert, untouchable, dimensions in the ratio 1:4:9 (:16:25:36:49 etc. ad infinitum)...?

What's that loud, high-pitched sound?
