Re: The Happy Thought Thread Part 3
Getting the (new - down here we are changing to a single local council) council to change thier minds about what formats they provide my information in.
I got my council and rent benefit letters last week. I phoned to ask for them in Braille or large print.
Of course it got my back up to be told they can't and wouldn't do it!
Anyway one official complaint and speaking to several people there I got the call this morning and now ANYONE who calls can request their info in either of these formats

Nicely done Dilli.
I would have though they'd offer this normally anyway.

Re: The Happy Thought Thread Part 3
Yes - they SHOULD offer it normally, and indeed when it was mid beds I got my paperwork in Braille.
I think they just needed a gentle nudge

Re: The Happy Thought Thread Part 3
I have made a small sample of my screen reader in action for those that were interested
This is also the same voice software on my new DAISY, it's not bad to be honest.

Re: The Happy Thought Thread Part 3
It may sound daft, but I'm happy that Cash Generator has revamped the website/s and each store is going to have an online prescence (hope it's not run by the same dimwits that run Cex online operations) - presently you can have valuations done online though

Can you change the speed of the voice? It talks a bit too fast for me, I'd have to play it back a few times!

That sounds very good. I expected it to be a lot more of a synthetic sound if you know what I mean.

I have never been into a Cash Generator store as there aren't any where I go shopping although we do have an old fashioned Pawn Brokers and the jewelry is very tempting.
I have just had a Google and it seems there is a Cash Generator in Salford which isn't too far away so I may go and have a look at what they have in stock.

Re: The Happy Thought Thread Part 3
Is that like cash converters?
I go in there sometimes to get old tech (like a cassette player for example).
It seems a very dodgy place to sell things tho.

yes it's pretty much the same thing, Luton has one of each but no-one goes in cash converters as it's too expensive
Cex is infinately more 'dodgy' and even tiresome if you want to actually buy anything. Have found odd barginous dvd's in both though, especially that our CG has them on 3 for 2 still!

Re: The Happy Thought Thread Part 3
Forgot that Jerry Sadowitz, my favourite comedian of all time was playing tonight at the Glasgow Comedy festival.
But managed to grab a couple of tickets today
So off for a few drinks in Glasgow and then a good, clean comedy show with no bad language or jokes that are in any way offensive to anyone...
