Re: CV

It's your Curriculum vitae. It is a summary of your educational record, your achievements, and your experience and is designed to get you an Interview when you apply for Jobs.

Here is an article from the BBC: http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/business/2950896.stm and an example

Really you need to look at the type of job your applying for an tailor your cv to that area. So if your applying for a job where you'll be working with customers anything that shows you engaging with others would be good on the cv, as would anything that shows confidence.

Re: CV

Latin curriculum ("course"), derived from currere ("to race"), + vitae, genitive of vita ("life").

Re: CV

It's basically selling yourself to impress a potential employer. You want to get the balance right, as you don't want to sound like an arrogant idiot.

For real?

You are 20 and haven't a clue what a CV is? Do they not teach you about these things at school anymore?

Its a record of your previous jobs and qualifications from school and college/uni and a bit of personal information for prospective employers to look at.

I'm 20, and you do get taught about it in school/college.

I think wwe is just lazy from what I have seen of past posts. No grammar, no punctuation, random and seemingly pointless questions... I think he's just asking for the sake of asking so he doesn't have to do the research himself. Sorry but thats just what I've observed.

Re: CV

A C.V. is the first thing an employer will see when you apply for a job. It is the way you sell yourself and show your experience and achievements together with a cover letter explaining your reasons as to why you want the job.

There are plenty of helpful guides on the Internet but do make sure you make it your own style too. Maybe print it on decent quality paper and make sure all spelling is correct. Don't rely on a spell checker. Get someone else to read it and make sure it is neatly typed up.

See here for more information about what a CV is and how to write one:

Re: CV

If you have Microsoft Word that has several CV templates.

I used this for a job and they thought it had been done professionally

My one is pushing 5 pages, one page is full of qualifications that I have done.

I will NOT do one that has short to the point & bullet point types.

Although others should, That works for you and great but a note to wwe here that concise CVs tend to objective. You would need a really good reason to go above 2 pages.

I have a really good reason, it won't fit on 2 pages, plus it resulted in 2 hour interview which got me the job.

Page 1 - My personal details (1/2 page)
Page 2 - My Qualifications, (and job related training which are manditory for my job and if I get a job in a similar field will be neccessary)
Page 3 - My current job and profile
Page 4 - My previous job and profile
Page 5 - Hobbies & Interests / References

That is the layout I was told to use 20+ years ago and it has never let me down.

My reading doesn't include 'entertaining' as a potential interpretation.

Of course if you are entertained by naiivity, and the possible reasons for that, then fill your boots - I'm, personally inclined to consider that not all of us may have been dealt the same cards in life ????
