Impulse buy, my rights?

I brought an electrical item tonight which was totally an impulse purchase.
The item works great with no problems but I have a problem, and that is the lack of content.

The Item is a Humax HD freesat box which I got from Comet, wasn't a pressure sale.
I unfortunately was under the impression there was far more HD content available on freesat than there currently is so spending £127 on a freesat box with a few hours in the evening dedicated to HD, and only 2 channels so far providing the service, one is BBC HD and the other with very sporadic programming is ITV.

What are my rights should I decide to return this box.

TIA

Al

That sort of thing is down to the manager's discretion. He's under no obligation to do anything unless it could be proven you were misled in to the sale, and that certainly does not look the case here.

Changing your mind

If your product is brand new, unused and the box is unopened

All you need to do is take it back to a Comet store within 28 days (14 days for a computer) and we'll give you either a full refund or a gift card to the same value - it's up to you.
Don't forget to take your receipt along.
If the product is too big to easily take to the store just call our customer care people on 08705 425 425 and we'll arrange a collection (charges apply).
If you've opened the box

Provided the product is still unused, the process is almost the same except that, for products costing £25 or more, we deduct a restocking fee (10% of the original price up to a maximum of £99) from your refund to cover the cost of repackaging and restocking.
Alternatively you can choose a gift card credit for the full purchase price.
Remember to return all the original packaging.
One more thing - we can't accept the return of any product with missing parts such as remote control, leads or manuals, so make sure you hang on to everything that came with your product. We also can't take back any pre-recorded videos, DVD, audio, video game or software products if the seal has been broken unless they are faulty.

Re: Impulse buy, my rights?

Thanks for the reply Russ, just about what I was expecting. I'll have to sleep on it and see how I feel in the morning as the whether or not to try n get a refund. Probably end up keeping tho and put it down to experience.

Re: Impulse buy, my rights?

We bought two freesat boxes from comet, kept one and returned the other after using it and told them it kept wanting to rescan for channels. They never checked it, just refunded us.

Re: Impulse buy, my rights?

If I ever buy something electrical ,which I later regret, I remove the fuse, short it across my car batt terminals, replace it & take the item back. Its faulty. End of.
