Factory Refurbished stock?
hey all has anyone had any dealings with factory Refurbished stock?
as ive seen something on ebay that say it is factory refurbished and comes with 90day labor and 1 year parts guarantee.
It is half price of a normal item, is it worth it? what does it mean?

Re: Factory Refurbished stock?
I think it means that something was returned to the supplier as defective and has been repaired and is now working and on sale at a reduced price.

It is, but beyond the 90 days, you have no guarantee it will carry on working.
Having said that, when my xbox 360 died (red ring of death) after a few months, they sent me a refurb. That has (so far, touch wood) been working for over 2 years.

Re: Factory Refurbished stock?
If it fails within 90 days, they will fix it. If it fails after 90 days, but before 1 year, they'll send you the parts but you'll need to fix it yourself or get someone to do it.

Re: Factory Refurbished stock?
Labor means the cost of the engineer to diagnose the problem then fix it, parts is the parts required to fix the problem..
I bought a WGT624 router refurbished from eBay, was the latest V4 also got a freeview twin tuner PVR which I suspect was a refurb.. Both haven't missed a beat and cost me £20 for the router and £40 for the PVR delivered..

Re: Factory Refurbished stock?
Standard warranty is 1 year parts/labour which I believe they have to offer by law against manufacturing/component faults.. Some items though (such as computer monitors) usually come with a 3 year warranty and even sometimes on-site warranty as standard.. Also some items are exempt from the standard warranty and might have a reduced or no warranty what so ever

Re: Factory Refurbished stock?
Actually I seem to remember the law has changed and that in some cases the manufacturer is liable for longer.... I cant find a link though (...already heading for the air raid shelter!)

Re: Factory Refurbished stock?
One thing that made me look with interest at some of the stuff sold by Lidl and ALDI was the 3 year warranties... then I had cause to contact Lidl's Parkside UK representative (Kompernass) about a warranty repair... and they sternly refused to talk to me, stating simply that "we are only a call-centre". And Lidl just said that all warranty claims should be made to that company only.
Letters have gone unanswered too.....
