Additional Job
I've got a part time job but I would like to earn extra cash, so i'm thinking of doing and easy/relaxing job like a Delivery job or be a taxi driver.
My questions are:
To be a delivery driver (DHL, Parcel Force, Royal Mail etc), do you need some sort of experience? Will I have to have an interview?
To be a taxi driver, do you need your own big car or can you use the firms car? Do you need experience and have to be a certain age? Will I have to have an interview?
Which job has the better pay?
Any other jobs you guys can advice me to do?
Thanks

Re: Additional Job
I know for a fact that Taxi drivers have to go on a pretty intensive 5 year course to learn an opinion on every subject under the Sun. To pass, each opinion should have a suitable right wing, racist or homophobic bent.
They also have to spend 2 hours every day reading every available red top before they start their shift.
Seriously though taxi drivers usually have to be licensed, not so sure about minicabs though. A lot of the delivery firms want full time commitment for areas.
What about a local takeaway delivery? I did this for quite a while. Not great pay usually but free grub and not bad tips.

Is the pay any good for delivery jobs? Do you need a CV?
Don't delivery drivers have to drive big vans, as I can only drive a car.

Re: Additional Job

Delivery drivers need to drive big vans but not for take away food. You don't need to have a big car to drive for restaurants. I had a banger of a Nissan Micra that paid for itself delivering Chinese takeaway. You are supposed to claim you're using it for that on your insurance.
You don't usually need a CV. It's usually enough that you're reliable and know the area well (or can read an A to Z).

You're better to phone the local takeaways and ask if they are looking for delivery drivers. If they're not looking right now they may take your name for the future. ( whispers it's often cash in hand so you won't find them on Job Centre plus)

Re: Additional Job
If you decide to go down the Taxi Driving route you'll need a medical which will coast you £100+, you'll also need an enhaced CRB check which will cost you £35, you'll then need a badge from the local council which will cost you anything up to £150, that's nearly £300 before you've got into a Taxi. After all that you've got to find a job on the Taxis, many firms won't let you drive just weekends, they tend to keep spare cars for the drivers who have been out in the week when it's been dead so they can earn a little bit more at the weekend, the other drivers won't like it either you taking their weekend work.
I'd steer clear of Taxi driving mate it's a dying trade.
