Unclipped ?

Looking at some annuals on e-bay and a few say they are "unclipped".

I have no idea what this means - anyone know ?

Re: Unclipped ?

i think, and it is only think, that means the price has not been 'clipped' off. Iirc the price was sometimes on a corner of a page and you could tear it off before giving it as a christmas pressie!! i wait to be corrected.

They could mean "unstripped". If books get returned to the publisher as unsold or destroyed by the retailer as unsold they are supposed to "strip" off the cover.

If you buy a "stripped" book then you know neither the author or publisher got paid.

Re: Unclipped ?

I think Soupie may have it. I'd understand unclipped to mean the price marker on the first page is intact. Such things are important to collectors.

You are correct. They are often advertised as 'Price Unclipped' which is a bit clearer than just 'unclipped' for people that don't normally buy them.
