Ok, I am just removing my ceiling light in the lounge to replace with new chandalier, the switch wire was marked with tape but I have just stepped up to wire up the new fitting and the tape has fallen off....
Any easy way I can identify the swith wire?

Re: Electrical help
I know this is not the help your wanting, but your better getting an electrician in.
Other than that, what test equipment you got, multimeter? mains tester screwdriver?
Using a mains tester screwdriver, test all the black(neutral) wires in turn, with somebody operating the light switch as you do it. When you can turn the indicator on in your screwdriver with the light switch you have found your switched live.
EDIT: before you do this test you'll have to strap all the lives together with a terminal block.

Re: Electrical help
just a stab in the dark but are there any marks or sticky residue where the tape was attached.

Re: Electrical help
No a good thought and one I had myself, it was not actually tape more like an extra bit of shielding.. Cant see/feel anything different. Can narrow down to 2 of the 3 because of the direction the feed comes from (2 from direction of sitch and unit, the other comes from other direction)

http://www.diydoctor.org.uk/projects...d_switches.htm
If it's a simple single fitment
Should be one live feed which gets diverted to the switch. Return from switch becomes the input feed to the ceiling rose.
Neutral and earth (if available) connect direct to the ceiling fitment.
You'll need a tester to discover which wire is the live feed.
(Carefully, unless you fancy the wetfinger test)
