Things to do in Prague?
Hello!
I'm taking my boyfriend to Prague at the end of next month as a Christmas present, has anyone been before and/or have any recommendations of things to do and see?
Thanks

Apart from not losing sight of him at any time? (joke)
I've never been myself but I've often been told to go and see Prague Castle, it's apparently one of the biggest, if not the biggest in the world, there's quite a lot of casinos from what I can work out if you're into that kind of thing too

The stag night capital of Europe. Wasn't the film 'Hostel' about Prague, maybe give that watch for info and what to do.
Seriously, from the people I know that's been there, you don't need a guide, just enjoy the place for what it is. Cheap booze, great scenery and one of the most chilled out places going.
Very nice present.

Re: Things to do in Prague?
The Unbearable Lightness of Being was shot in Prague. You could watch it before you go and then play Spot the Location.

Went there in about 1986 when it was still under Communist rule. I expect it's quite a bit different now - and busier! Obvious things to look out for:
King Charles bridge
St Vitus Cathedral
Prague Castle
Town Hall clock
Wenceslas Square
Jewish Cemetery (and the nearby clock that turns backwards)

Re: Things to do in Prague?
Cobbled together from my post in another thread, together with some other bits...
Prague is awesome!
I went there... about 4 years ago now.
Lots of lovely, lovely, beer. And it's cheap! Amazed me how so many Brit tourists there seemed to be wasting their money drinking overpriced crap lager in "English" pubs & "Irish" pubs, when they could have been drinking cheap & yummy Budvar, Pilsner Urquell, Staropramen, Gambrinus, etc.
Great food too - local, & "foreign" (Greek, Italian, French, even Afghan).
Things to see:
Prague Castle (the "Hrad"), The Charles Bridge, the "Staré Mesto" ("Old Town"), "Malá Strana" (the "Little Quarter"), "Staromestské námestÃ*" ("Old Town Square"), the Astronomical Clock, the Gothic "Tyn Church", the "Vysehrad" fortress, Josefov (the old Jewish district - also has a Holocaust Memorial, very very moving).

Re: Things to do in Prague?
Just walk around the old town, that's plenty for a week...The most beautiful city in the world...
You must try the "pork's knee" it's 1.2 kilos mostly bone+fat but fabulous to share, the meat falls off the bone, a local delicacy...The restaurant two doors from the Hotel Expres (yes one s ) is has the best knee in Prague!
There is a restaurant by the main clock that serves drinks (snaps) in gigantic glasses...
I go threre 2-3 times a year... The prices are up, even higher now that the pound has become loo paper...

Re: Things to do in Prague?
I read that you can hire Segways to tour the city, apparently it's quite a laugh bombing round the parks on them
