I don't believe it - Turkey's off

It can only happen to my family, we bought the usual Christmas Turkey, put it in the freezer, thawed it out ready for the oven, tonight, the Turkey is ill, we opened it up and my god what a sight and smell, we had to wrap it back up and ready to take back to a well known supermarket, the turkey was well off - l don't believe it.

Re: I don't believe it - Turkey's off

That's not good at all given that the supermarkets were generally shut by early evening. Going to be an interesting challenge to prove by Boxing Day that it had gone fowl (geddit ) and wasn't your fault.

Hope you have enough alternatives to still enjoy a reasonable meal.

Looks like beans on toast then Arthur, unless you find something else in your freezer more in keeping with the festive season. Big disappointment with the turkey, but suspect you won't let that spoil your Christmas! Have a good one Arthur.

Aurthur, try a petrol station as most are either M&S, Tesco Metro or Somerfield and they should be open... They might have a crown or at least a roast of some sort...

Re: I don't believe it - Turkey's off

I always cook my Turkey chrismas eve cuz it takes the whole cooker meaning it would have been thawed christmas eve (if frozen in the first place) so this would never happen to me I would just nip to town and find something fresh. Hope you manage to find something Arthur and hope you still have a great day

Hi Arthur

Could you give a clue to which well known supermarket you got your Turkey from?

The reason I ask is because the same happened to us yesterday, luckily it was about 4pm when we found out and had time to rush to a local small supermarket were we managed to picked up a Turkey crown, the last of two in fact as all the Turkeys had gone by then.

Our Turkey which had gone off was a T_ _ _ _ Christmas fresh basted Turkey with Giblets

Why not just say Tesco, no need to hide it.

Re: I don't believe it - Turkey's off

Is there a reason you didnt just say Tesco's? they sold you a frozen Turkey that was off once defrosted they could hardly sue for defamation or slander on that

Edit GMTA

Re: I don't believe it - Turkey's off

Erm...okay, as I'm new here I didn't know if I was allowed to name and shame.

Anyway once we found out ours had gone off we rang Tesco's straight away and to be fair they have offered us a full refund plus the cost purchasing the one we are having today.

We have to take the packaging back for the refund and the receipt for the replacement.
