As the Americans are renowned for friendly fire incidents it may be a bit of a worry that NORAD is tracking Santa

Works fine on my PC and the is a visual representation of Santa on Google Earth.

Yes, he's in Fiji at the moment.
The download is a small Google Earth data file that tells the application where and when to show a Santa graphic on the map. I'm not sure how it could crash anything ... what exactly is it doing to your FF? It didn't crash mine, I just got the usual download/open dialogue, and chose to open it with Google Earth.

I'd click on the link for google earth and as the 'save' option came up Firefox would freeze then crash. never happened with any other download.
Would you believe it, it downloaded fine with IE8

Well seeing as other PC and Mac users have managed to get it without any bother, I suspect the problem is in the way you have FF set up to handle file downloads.
